The Pier of Fear spanned two weekends over Halloween, and – as expected – the second weekend went out with a bang. Headlining both Friday and Saturday nights was Steve Aoki as part of his Aokify America Tour. Costumed party-goers flocked to Pier 94 off of the West Side Highway to get the party going all weekend long.
The night kicked off withRune RK and the Real DJ Ace, making way for Waka Flocka who t00k the stage, joined by a drummer, DJ and hype man, and members of his Brick Squad Crew. Borgore was another crowd favorite, who custom-decorate the stage with his DJ booth flanked by strippers poles and dancers.
The man with the top songs of the summer, Pharrell Williams, took to the stage and performed his most recent hits, “Get Lucky” and “Blurred Lines.”
Though Aoki came on well past 2am, the crowd was no less excited for his performance, and stayed energized for his entire set. The speakers and lights came even more alive for his arrival.
Anyone can download and play his tracks online, but it’s one thing to experience his live theatrics: he’s known for throwing giant sheet cakes at his fans (who are more than eager to have cakes thrown at them), guzzling champagne from the bottle on stage, and even crowd surfing via body or inflatable raft.
It was an awesome night of hard beats, crazy costumes, and sticky dancing. We’re already prepared to see what they in store for us next year, but in the meantime, be sure to check out the gallery below for even more excellent photos from RPM.
