In November, Socially Superlative attended Silver Hill Hospital’s 4th annual gala at Cipriani 42nd Street. The Silver Hill Hospital Gala raises money to assist those that need to utilize Silver Hill’s long-term residential treatment programs for psychiatric or addiction diagnoses, but cannot afford it.
Attendees were greeted at the door with bellinis and escorted into the cocktail hour to snack on endive with goat cheese, bacon-wrapped shrimp and mini pizzas among other dishes.
For this year’s gala, Peter Busch Orthwein, Silver Hill’s Board Director and his wife Beverly Orthwein were honored with the Visionary Award. Beverly gave a very touching speech about her battle with mental illness and why Silver Hill Hospital is so important.
CNBC anchor Lawrence Kudlow was also honored and received the President’s Award. Kudlow shared his story about overcoming addiction and encouraged attendees to open their hearts and their wallets.
In between presentations, attendees were treated to Wagyu Strip Streak with Veneziana Sauce, Broccolini tied with Leeks and a Sweet Potato Pave. An alternating mix of Vanilla Creme Meringue Cake with Strawberries and Homemade Sorbets with Fresh Fruit in a Chocolate Shell was served for dessert.
Hugh Hildesley from Sotheby’s, led the live auction that raised close to $850,000 from the floor of 400 guests. Grammy and Tony-winning musical artist, Cyndi Lauper provided the entertainment for the evening singing first an appropriate song for the night, “Fearless,” and then her well known hit, “True Colors”.
