Ring in 2014 at The Metropolitan Opera with the New Year’s Eve Gala featuring the Met’s new production of Johann Strauss Jr.’s Die Fledermaus on Tuesday, December 31, 2013, beginning at 6:30 PM.
Die Fledermaus is a treasure of sparkling melody and spirited fun, long a favorite of international audiences and a staple of glittering galas. It is the supreme operetta, that quintessentially Viennese genre that combines beautiful, memorable music with romance, comedy, and a gently satirical charm. Susanna Phillips and Christopher Maltman lead the sparkling cast, which also features Christine Schäfer, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Michael Fabiano, Paulo Szot and Danny Burstein. Adam Fischer conducts.
