I have followed Katya Leonovich for the last few seasons and she continuously impresses me with how she pushes the envelope on her designs. Her presentation on February 10th, 2014, was no different. With her metallic fabrics and her edgy designs she managed to keep me interested and focused on her beautiful work.
Her beginning and final dresses were the show stoppers and made me want to fit into them. I love it when a designer can inspire me and think beyond the normal outfits and Katya Leonovich does that with her Aqua metallic deep-v party dress and the silver pewter metallic evening blouse with silver pewter metallic crinoline full length skirt. The aqua blue dress would fit anyone who likes to show off and show how it is done and the blouse and skirt is like Sarah Jessica Parker on Sex and the City –just fabulous.
If you are someone with an attitude and a little edgy in how you look but need to fit into that little black dress Katya’s Black Mesh cocktail dress would be a great option. It was gorgeous and with any kind of shoe that dress works; boots, high heels, ballerinas; It is the new classic cress with an edge.
The Pavilion has a different setup than previous years and it was a nice change where you had the chance to see the outfits from different sides and it gave everyone a chance to see the dresses no matter where they were sitting. Finding your seat was a night mare even though the volunteers were holding up seating signs but we figured it out and everyone had a place to sit.
