Social Media Week kicked off their 6th annual conference in February, with their VIP Opening Reception in NYC. The event was held at Highline Stages, the space that would be utilized as the main campus for the week, and the first time the location was be used for this event.
Libations were provided by Tito’s Handmade Vodka, margaritas from Chipotle, and more. Guests were also treated to food from Chipotle, Whole Foods, ice cream from Phin and Phebes, Sigmund pretzels, and more. Most people were introduced to Bobby Sue’s Nuts for the first time at this event. The company donates a portion of every purchase towards building the first shelter for the SPCA of Westchester.
Companies like the Village Voice and Yelp were on hand with fun swag, and information on their new products. For Village Voice, that would be Choice Eats taking place in March. DJ Mick played the soundtrack for the night.
The most engaging part of the night was Nokia’s Now Studio, which featured Vine artists like Looping Tales, who we’re educating people on their craft.
The event took those that usually have a social presence online and had them socialize in person. The effort must have worked since guests most guests were still on the premises after last call. We’re excited to see what magnitude the event grows to next year.
