Last month, Socially Superlative checked out one of the classes at Alycea Ungaro’s Real Pilates studio. Getting up on a Saturday morning is hard enough, but getting all the way down to Tribeca is even worse. This reasoning doesn’t factor in when you’re taking classes at a celebrity trainer’s studio though.
The same one that has helped oversee the fitness regimen for Madonna, Molly Sims, Uma Thurman, Claire Danes, Christy Turlington and more. Tell me one person in that list that doesn’t have an impeccable body!
We were given the suggestion of taking the SpringTone® class, which uses a tower of springs and handles at one side of the pilates mat. The class mixes resistance training, core training, bodyweight training and circuit training all in to one class. SpringTone® is great for strengthening and sculpting muscles, stretching out achy limbs and overall toning.
The workout didn’t seem like it would affect you, but after a couple pulls of the springs, especially in some positions, you definitely felt the burn immediately. The class is pretty small, about 8-10 people, so you get a semi-private class with an expert instructor that can give individual attention. The SpringTone® classes happen downstairs, with the upstairs full of private and semi-private pilates reformer classes.
The studio now hosts Clara’s Lifestyle Boutique, curated by What Not to Wear’s Amy Salinger. Brands showcased include Lole Women, Nancy Rose, Om Girl, and Beyond Yoga among other reputable brands. The new collection rounds out the space to make it a more complete Pilates lifestyle experience.
