Last Thursday kicked off the 2014 New York International Auto Show with the 15th Annual Gala Preview where guests enjoyed a private preview of the show before it officially opens to the public from Friday, April 18th through Sunday, April 27th.
Proceeds from the Gala Preview went to support the East Side House Settlement and their highly successful college preparation programs, crucial in promoting education and employment for the residents of the South Bronx and surrounding communities. Before the gala dinner, guests mingled during the cocktail reception and bid on silent auction items – from travel and dining packages, autographed memorabilia, to designer jewelry and accessories – to benefit the East Side House Settlement.
We also had the opportunity to view some unique and spectacular vehicles on display in the aisle, including the anodized carbon edition of the SRT Viper GTS.
Also a rare opportunity in the concrete jungle, in between cocktails we had an off-roading experience courtesy of Camp Jeep. The track featured bumpy logs and bricks, uneven lanes, and steep inclines and drops, all which our Jeep Grand Cherokee handled with ease.
We had the opportunity to tour the auto show floor and saw all the latest models and technology that we can look forward to in the near future. The first stunning display was from Toyota featuring the 2015 Toyota Camry, and nearby was the Toyota FCV Concept.
The all new 2015 Honda Fit also made an appearance, along with the world premiere of the first-ever BMW X4.
Though not as abundant as in years past, there were a few luxury cars on display that attracted the crowds.
