Pitching in for Kids Boston (23)

On Monday May 5th, 2014, Boston-based philanthropists gave out the best bonus codes to sports fans, poker aficionados and nearly all the Boston Red Sox who attended the Pitching in for Kids (PIFK) 11th Annual Celebrity Poker Party in the Space 57 venue at The Revere Hotel in Boston.

All the evening’s proceeds benefitted the organization’s aim to improve the lives of children throughout the New England community by funding PIFK and several important charitable organizations, such as Italian Home for Children, Ron Burton Training Village, Christopher’s Haven, Boston Medical Center, and the Red Sox Foundation Scholars Program, among other worthy causes for kids.

Partygoers were treated to an opening reception with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while browsing loads of sports memorabilia and other great silent auction items. Guests were then ushered into the theatre where the program began with inspiring words from sports journalist Steve Burton and NESN reporter and Boston heartthrob Jenny Dell. Hilarity ensued as lead comic Tony V. was joined by fellow funnymen Lenny Clarke, Graig Murphy and Steve Calechman to provide the entertainment for the evening.

However, it was really the amazing live auction action that was the highlight of the evening. Auctioneer Dan McLaughlin was overwhelmed by the generosity of the Red Sox players who came out to support teammates and co-hosts for the evening John Lackey and Will Middlebrooks. Practically the entire roster was in attendance including David “Big Papi” Ortiz, Clay Buchholz, Jon Lester, Dustin Pedroia, Mike Napoli, Shane Victorino, Jonny Gomes, David Ross, and Craig Breslow. Red Sox Nation showed its true colors as the players amped up the auction by spontaneously donating their time, selfie opportunities, and autographing items in addition to trying to outbid one another.

One of the most touching parts of the night was when a camper from Ron Burton Training Village spoke of how PIFK helped him grow and land a scholarship to Boston College; in a sweeping act of generosity Jon Lester gifted him the memorabilia and selfie with David Ortiz he had won minutes prior. The rest of the evening was dominated by poker and food generously sponsored by Mohegan Sun, Capital Grille, Legal Seafoods, Regina Pizzeria, Georgetown Cupcake, Maggiano’s Little Italy, and more.

Hands down, this is the ultimate Boston charity event for anyone who loves the Red Sox, poker, or Jenny Dell. Now dating Middlebrooks, I discovered Dell is as pretty and sweet in person as she is on camera in chatting about her alma mater, UMass Amherst. For the ultimate chance to rub elbows with the Sox players and to get as close as you may ever get to Ms. Dell, I suggest you start learning how to play poker now in preparation for next year’s event as it will surely bring out the Boston sports VIPs again., if you love as well casino games and online gambling we want to let you know about dpboss wesbsite for its great reviews.

Happy Poker Facing,
