We had the pleasure of attending Village Voice‘s 3rd annual Choice Streets food truck event where NYC’s tastiest food trucks gathered around the Intrepid to feed hungry New Yorkers.

We noticed there were a lot of trucks with Asian cuisine, which we initially felt not super psyched about more sub-par Asian take-out. However, after going around to all of the trucks and tasting their dishes, we were proved wrong and has restored our faith in Asian food.

We loved Shanghai Sogo‘s simple yet flavorful dumplings coupled with a five spiced tea egg. Moo Shu Grill served up a delicious moo shu wrap, and Hibachi Heaven had grilled veggies over fried rice.

As we were standing in line for Big D’s Grub, the volunteer warned us that the curry dish was very spicy. Pffft, we scoffed, saying that we could handle our spicy stuff – and boy, were we wrong. While delicious, be prepared to feel the burn. The well-oiled machine that is Korilla BBQ served their signature bulgogi tacos.

You don’t have to go all the way to Philly for an amazing Philly Cheeesesteak, you just have to stalk Carl’s Steaks Mobile. The liquid cheese sauce was evenly dispersed within the thinly sliced serloin steak. Valducci’s Pizza had thick, fluffy crust of their saucy slices. Comfort food at its finest!

To wash it all down, there were a slew of beverages to choose from. Our favorites were the Aperol cocktail and Shock Top where we tried their original Begium White along with fun flavors like the Honeycrisp Apple Wheat and Raspberry Wheat. And though it was chilly when the sun set, we had to get a cup of Kelvin Slush and their frozen Arnold Palmer.
