Opus Affair is a membership organization dedicated to fostering community and fundraising for the young professional arts community in Boston and now also Miami.
This year’s fun filled costume party went beyond the usual 1920s theme to include a New Orleans element which was reflected by the amazing flappers costumes, a lively NOLA style Hot Tamale Brass Band, and delicious hors d’oeuvres like hush puppies, sausage fritters, Kings cake, and oysters courtesy of Island Creek. Specialized vintage and southern drinks (our favorite was the punch) were provided courtesy of Grey Goose, Bacardi, Basil Hayden’s and Knob Creek.
This year’s event honored the intersection of arts and hospitality with “The Big Party Awards” being won by Josh Lewin (hospitality), Julie Otis (arts), and Leigh Shaplen (student) with $500 prizes to help them advance their careers.
There was also a silent auction of some nice packages like Red Sox tickets, MFAMuseum Council Membership, and a Company Christmas at the POPs, among others which helped raise funds for Opus Affair to continue their community outreach to support the arts.
Partygoers really seemed to enjoy the entertainment, food, drinks, and even some of the World Cup final. Nearly everyone was decked out in their 1920s or New Orleans best, so for next year’s event be sure to rock a costume!
Overall, everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly and guests left with nice goody bags with Taza Chocolate, free tickets to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and other niceties prior to heading next door to the Hawthorne for the after party.
