Despite the inclement weather, on Thursday, August 7th, hundreds of young professionals gathered at the Boston Seaport to partake in BostInno’s BostonFest to celebrate workplace innovation and crown “Boston’s Coolest Company”.

Attendees enjoyed live music, the opportunity to try some of Boston’s favorite food trucks, and five bars serving custom libations with Deep Eddy Vodka, Rex Goliath wine spritzers as well as Blue Moon and other brews. Guests were challenged by some fun dart gun games and the chance to win the BostonFest Baggo competition in between checking out the sponsor booths and networking.

The live music really helped set the party scene. We caught up with Richard James, the lead vocalist for Richard James & the Name Changers, who only had great things to say about the local event using Boston-based talent like themselves. The Chicken Slacks and Louie Bello kept the crowd dancing throughout the rest of the evening until the Coolest Company winners were announced.

I was a bit disappointed my favorite “Best workout in the world” (and event vendor) Barry’s Bootcamp Boston didn’t make the cut, but the list of winners included clypd, Wayfair, Boathouse, Inc., RunKeeper, InsightSquared, Skyword, LogMeIN, New Balance, Google, and Connelly Partners.

For young professionals looking to network and check out some of the most innovative companies in Boston, BostonFest is a fun way to broaden your career horizons. Just be sure to bring cash for the bar as the general admission ticket includes one complementary drink and your will likely want to stay far longer than just one drink.
