“Have you seen The Light?”
A question that people may ask you when you come back from a trip to Vegas. Located at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, LIGHT is the first-ever nightclub turned on by the creative minds behind Cirque du Soleil. Naturally, you can expect acrobatics and tricks that will blow you away.
Guests at LIGHT are essentially part of the show, with the costumed performers dangling straight above while you’re dancing the night away. Past DJs include Alesso, Bassjackers, Krewella, Nicky Romero, Otto Knows, Ingrosso, Skrillex, Stafford Brothers, and Thomas Gold, among many others.
During a Friday night in August, we were there for Clockwork and saw aerial performers, fatigues repelling down the walls, and sexy wind-swept go-go dancers.
For a typical weekend, Fridays are $40 for gentlemen and $20 for ladies, and Saturdays are $50 for gentlemen and $20 for ladies. If it’s not a special event, we recommend going with a promoter on this. While generally I lump club promoters in with NYC real estate brokers (re: terrible), it definitely depends on the promoter you find. After dealing with one obnoxious “Troy”, we quickly reached out to another who got us on their list with minimal hassle.
Though groups of dudes are still subject to stricter admission rules, Light is not nearly as bad for guys as other nightclubs. That said, all of the VIP tables were still snatched up. If you still want to see the scene but not be a part of pit, the second floor of the nightclub is limited to VIPs only and overlooks the entire club. On the dance floor, there is another set of VIP tables front and center in the middle of all the action, which we highly recommend.
Come to LIGHT for the acrobats and stay for the dance party.
