This past weekend, the Gramercy Neighborhood Association hosted their second annual Taste of Gramercy Neighborhood. Despite the dreary forecast for all of Saturday, the rain held off for the duration of the event and New Yorkers got to try some delicious bites from some of the best restaurants in Gramercy.

Guests included Scott Lipps, owner of One Model Management, and the Foodie Magician Josh Beckerman. 20 restaurants participated this year, and ticket proceeds went to local schools PS 40 and School of the Future, while leftover food from the event feed New York’s homeless at the end of the day through The Bowery Mission.

One theme of the afternoon included burgers. Among them, Jack’s Sushi & Sliders served bacon-wrapped beef burgers with grilled onions and a delicious jalapeno mayo sauce. Ainsworth Park paired their signature slider with a side of seasoned potato chips, along with a salted chocolate chip cookies. La Follia Osteria had braised short rib sliders with parmigiano-reggiano.

Crowd favorites included The Stand, doling out tough choices between their truffle macaroni and cheese, cookie dough pancakes, and their boozy peanut butter and jelly french toast. Tough decision, but all great options! But really, you should go for that mac and cheese.

Smaller portions were worth it when it came to  BLT Prime and their red wine braised short ribs topped with a flavorful horseradish gruyere gremolata sauce.

A favorite of mine were all the amazing Indian dishes from A Spice Lane. Their chicken tiki masala dish was fantastic, as well as their lamb curry. For vegetarians, you can’t go wrong with their Channa chick peas and naan.
