Edible Schoolyard NYC partners with public schools to build gardens and kitchen classrooms where children can engage in hands-on learning. Their goal is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and environment required to make healthier choices and change the way children eat, for life.
Two floors of yummy deliciousness and cocktails, the ticket was well worth the spend not only for the cause but for everything it included! Happy Cooking Hospitality establishments stocked the party with two floors of savory bites and yummy cocktails; ‘Conjunction Junction Old Fashioned, which was a twist to the heritage drink and made with tequila and another yummy, smoky cocktail ‘Hickory Daiquiri Dock’. Beer and wine was generously provided by Farnum Hill Cider, Brooklyn Winery, and Greenport Harbor Brewery.
Food pairings ranged from Soy and Black Garlic Deviled Eggs from Bar Sardine to Steak Tartare over a Crispy Potato and Candied Nuts from Joseph Leonard and my favorite, the Octopus Hushpuppy from Fedora.
There was also a silent auction to help in the fundraising efforts which included a NoHo Dinner Tour, Beer Tastings and Fashion prizes. What was most fun about the auction table were the cute quotes from the elementary kids that were hung above each auction item.
One of the most entertaining quotes we found was from a 3rd grader from P.S. 216 who wrote, “If a plant makes food, and it drinks water, then why doesn’t it go to the bathroom?”
Edible Schoolyard NYC is true to their cause and held a very successful fundraising night. Socially Superlatives wishes them great success in the New Year and looks forward to continuing supporting such a great organization!
