Giovanni Rana Pastifico & Cucina in Chelsea Market celebrate National Pasta Month with an epic celebration dubbed the United Tastes of Pasta. Some of the top culinary stars showed off their best pasta dishes while guests hopped from table to table indulging in carbolicious eats. The evening went to benefit the Food Bank For NYC which provides food for more than 64 million free meals for New Yorkers in need.
Michael Scelfo of Boston’s Alden & Harlow served up mesquite lumache with roasted duck bolognes, buttermilk crema, and duck skin gremolata. Also from Boston was Jody Adams of Boston’s Rialto & TRADE.
Mark Ladner of NYC’s Del Posto dish was pasta alla carrettiera Roman style with guanciale, porcini, and tuna. Mark Gaier and Clark Frasier of Boston’s M.C. Spiedo served cheese tortelloni with brown butter, sauteed Maine lobster, and roasted pumpkin.
Jenn Louis of Lincoln and Sunshine Tavern came all the way from Portland to serve up strozzapreti with sage and butter. Matt Accarrino of San Francisco’s SPQR served a healthy-ish whole wheat pasta rotolo with urbani truffle fonduta. Rana’s own Executive Chef Kevin Garcia’s dish was lathered in caviar mascarpone.
Giovanni Rana will donate 100,000 meals to the Food Bank For NYC in addition to proceeds from the Pasta Party ticket sales, to help end hunger throughout the five boroughs of Manhattan. Selected signature chef dishes will remain on the Giovanni Rana Pastificio menu until New Year’s Eve, and every time a customer orders that dish, the restaurant will donate another $1 to the Food Bank For New York City.
