On Saturday November 14th, Bostonians gathered at the Fairmont Copley hotel to celebrate the annual gala for the Boston Children’s Hospital League. This year’s theme was a “Rainbow of Possibilities” and the décor and flair were colorful as expected.
As anticipated, this event was flawlessly executed from a cocktail reception with cute little kids hawking stuffed teddy bears to donate to patients, and silent and live auction items. Open bar and passed hors d’oeuvres kept partygoers satiated until the lively three course dinner in the main ballroom.
WBZ-TV’s Lisa Hughes introduced initial remarks by gala co-chairs Rachel Rosenthal and Wendy Waldman, followed by COO of Boston Children’s Hospital, Kevin Churchwell. It was really guest speaker and young patient Ryan Joy O’Connor who sparkled though, getting a standing ovation from the crowd. Once again, John Terrio of Auction Knights helped guests outbid each other during the live auction.
Last year’s gala fundraised over $500,000 to benefit important patient care programs at Boston Children’s Hospital, and with good reason. The League’s events are always well-executed, and obsviously are raising funds for an extremely good cause, with a bonus boxed cupcake courtesy of The Sleepy Baker to take home along with any goodies won at auction. This one is always a highlight of the gala season, definitely mark your calendar for next year.
