My husband and I had the pleasure of going to the Holiday Spirits Bazaar at The Bowery Hotel hosted by The Dizzy Fizz. What a perfect spot for a cozy evening! The spot was covered in dark wood with a fireplace and cushioning chairs. The vendors had decorated their tables to get us all in the holiday spirit.
The aroma from the punches and holiday drinks gave a warm feeling that could not but help give you a smile on your face.
There were about 20 different vendors showing their best recipes for a holiday drink and there were too many to choose from. Some of my favorites were “All About The Krugerrands, Baby”, “Cullen Farm Punch”, “The Grand Life punch” (just because I cannot resist chocolate) and the “Rumpkin”.
“All About The Krugerrands, Baby” was created by Jessica Dure and was a combination of Bains Whiskey, Giffard Ginger of the Indies, Aperol, Fresh lemon Juice, Angostura Bitters and Candied Orange Zest Garnish. It was a dream. There is something about combining whiskey and orange zest. It just works.
“Cullen Farm Punch” was a combination of Kappa Pisco, Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge, Casa Lapostolle Carmenere, Cullen Farm Apple Cider, Lemon, Mulling Spices, maple syrup and Angostura Bitters. You have to have apple cider punch during the holidays.. And the pot of warm punch just smelled heavenly. You would not have been able to pass it up.
“The Grand Life Punch” also used the magic of Kappa Pisco but then added Grand Marnier Raspberry Peach, Lemon, Strawberries, Mint and Moet Chardon. Mint is one of my favorite spices and something that always makes me think Christmas but best of all you had to enjoy it with a piece of chocolate.
Last but not least, the “Rumpkin” was a punch with a punch… With Diplomatica Rum reserve Exclusiva, Cliffton Dry Cider, Allspice Dram, Tuthilltown Triple Sec, Pomegranate, Clove, Star Anise and Pumpkin garnish it was dark and heavy but the flavors exploded in your mouth. It was not pretty like the others, but the flavor could compete.
As for the food, oysters – well you cannot really go wrong with oysters – and Mable’s Smokehouse definitely did not disappoint either. The drinks were just too darn good.
If you get a chance to go next year. I highly recommend going with some of your girlfriends for a fun and cozy evening out. It is drink-all-you-can included in the ticket so you are sure to go home happy.
