To kick off the holiday season, we celebrated aboard Village Voice’s 3rd Annual Holiday Spirits Cocktail Cruise on the Hornblower Infinity cruise ship. As we sailed along the Hudson River, guests had the opportunity to hop from table to table tasting a wide array of cocktails from over 25 wineries and distilleries.
In helping to wash down all of the liquor, guests also enjoyed the massive food buffets that spanned all three floors of the ship. We enjoyed all of the different dishes, ranging from Italian pasta, Asian dim sum bites, and BBQ meats. VIP ticketholders had special access to a VIP lounge, as well as a jam-packed VIP gift bag of swag.
One favorite we tried was Barrow’s Intense ginger liqueur. Aptly name, it was definitely intense! It tasted like a shot of medicine in a good way, if there ever was a good way to take medicine. I actually had been battling a sore throat and this cleared it right up, allowing me to throw back drinks for the rest of the night.
To really get in the holiday spirit, we loved the egg nog from Califia Farms. It comes ready to serve and drink, making it easy to entertain any holiday guests you have over if you have this on hand in your home.
We also enjoyed hanging out in the Asahi Beer area where they charmed us with sunglasses and glow-sticks, as well the massive floor hosted by Rums of Puerto Rico that transformed the boat into a discoteca with live music.
Other spirits include Atsby Vermouth, Breuckelen Distilling, Brooklyn Gin, Brooklyn Winery, Jack from Brooklyn, Queens Courage Gin, Port Morris Distillery, Prairie Organic Vodka, Scorpion Mezcal, Tanteo Spirits, and many more. Other key sponsors included Whole Foods Market, Hood River Distillers, Zico, Fuerza Bruta, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, Trip of Love and Green Mountain Energy.
A portion of proceeds from Holiday Spirits will benefit Lifebeat, the leading national nonprofit dedicated to educating America’s youths about HIV and AIDS prevention.
