It all began with Secret Summer 2015 at the whimsical Foundry in Long Island City. RAPT Affairs founder Andrew Maturana along with Highlife Productions planned an unforgettable, immersive event for all partygoers lucky enough to attend. Coming off this successful soiree, I can only imagine the internal excitement at these boutique production companies.
Lucky for us the team decided that a Secret Summer 2016 is a must and Secret Winter dubbed GimmeJoy simply had to happen.
GimmeJoy was a one-of-a-kind Holiday Cocktail Soirée entwined with Seussian Christmas visuals and nuance held in an inconspicuous LES location called The Loft at 277 Grand. The intimate “farm-to-bar” winter wonderland was brought to life for the 200 ticketed guests.
Certainly not as vast and showy as the summer soiree, GimmeJoy played to the space serving premium creations by top mixologists, dancing to popular hits turned slow jazz by duo Acute Inflections followed by entrancing beats by DJ Lil’ Rye and “smizing” at Santa’s Werkshop photo booth.
Each of the decorations were well thought out including a Tim Burton-esque paper village, fluffy puffy cloud lights and models donning sexy reindeer costumes.
Ace mixologist Andrew Maturana and his team from Rapt Affairs dished out their signature “farm-to-bar” libations: Snowball Slings, Bourbon Chimneys, Cloud Sparklers and more inventive concoctions each crafted with the season’s freshest ingredients. My favorite, Drop the Beet, as it had me feeling guilt free about drinking because it was basically could be considered a health cleanse (see below for ingredients.)
I’d say my expectations were met for this event and even got to chat with a team member and let’s just say we are all in store for an epic immersive summer event in 2016.
If you want recreate some of these innovative cocktails we’ve got you covered:
