Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Annual Spring Ball
On Tuesday, May 17, 2016, The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering will host its signature event, the 9th Annual Spring Ball at The Plaza Hotel. This flagship event will pay special tribute to the volunteer organization’s 70th Anniversary, a key milestone in The Society’s history of tireless commitment and support of Memorial Sloan Kettering’s patient care and research programs.
To commemorate the 70th Anniversary, the inaugural The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Prize will be presented at the event to an individual who has made groundbreaking contributions in the fight against pediatric cancer. The inaugural prize recipient will be Richard J. O’Reilly, MD, Chairman of the MSK Department of Pediatrics, who has been selected based on his transformative research accomplishments over the past 40 years and his extraordinary service to MSK’s pediatric patients and families. The Spring Ball will raise funds for the prestigious Prize, which will be awarded annually, and is intended to increase awareness of multidisciplinary cooperation, leadership, and research in the area of pediatric cancer on a global scale.
More than 400 guests are expected to attend this glamorous evening of cocktails, dinner and dancing. There will be a special live performance by Sister Sledge and dancing to music by DJ Alexandra Richards. The 9th Annual Spring Ball is Co-Chaired by Kate Allen, Liz Gardiner, and Heather Leeds.
