Festivities started off at Rough Trade where everyone eagerly piled into check in, get their passports, and get a start on the extensive itinerary. And we were off!
It finally felt like summer in the city when we arrived at Rosarito Fish Shack and were greeted by models in bathing suits. With a Rosarita Margarita in hand and noshing on white fish ceviche, we soaked in the sun while listening to the mariachi band.
At Heatonist, we experienced an epic hot sauce tasting of fiery proportions, put on top of potato skins and sliders. It’s a sad fate when you love spicy foods but have no tolerance for them! After the tasting, there was a photo booth to capture all your attractive expressions. We washed it down at the Bloody Mary bar and enjoyed more food while listening to acoustic artist, Jesse Ruben.
Despite it being summer, Shelter Pizza set up a mini ice rink while a pro figure skater showed off with turns and twirls. On the sidelines we sipped on John Cellar wine and munched on empanadas.
To show off even more, a skating ramp was set up at Black Bear and onlookers sipped on cocktails while leaving the skating to the pros. For a less harmful sport that we could all participate in, there was also a live band karaoke session.
Another highlight was the whole roasted pig set up at The Gibson, where we also got tattoos (airbrushed) with Elvis and Marilyn Monroe (impersonators).
There were tons of great dishes to enjoy, and for once we’re thankful for all of the walking from place to place to give our stomachs some settling time. At the Burger Guru we housed down the short rib sliders and washed it down with the black and white milkshake. Falcon Laundry served beef sandwiches paired with their Chica Caliente cocktail.
At Kent Ale House we chilled with some truffle bacon popcorn and washed it down with Brooklyn Brewery beers. To satisfy our sweet tooth, we enjoyed cookies that we custom made ourselves from Schmackery’s. Extra frosting for me!
Things began to wind down and we “recharged” our bodies and our phones at Output with refreshing San Pellegrino, fresh fruit, and a phone charging station to rejuice from all of the ‘gramming we did throughout the day.
After a packed day, it was still not over! The after party revved up in the evening at Diviera Drive, and we REALLY got pumped during the special performance by The Knocks!
Thanks to Thrillist for what was an epic day!
