On Saturday, December 3rd, Boston-based philanthropists gathered at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront hotel to celebrate the annual gala for the Boston Children’s Hospital League. The League’s mission is to provide crucial non-clinical patient care programs like music and art therapy at Boston Children’s Hospital to help ease the medical care of children in the hospital.
This year’s event was a departure from past galas held at the Fairmont Copley Hotel and the Alice in Wonderland theme of “Through the Looking Glass” was a welcome change. Always a highlight of the evening were the teddy bears being sold by the League members children to donate to patients, and the wide variety of amazing silent and mini-live auction items during the open bar cocktail hour.
Once again WBZ-TV’s Lisa Hughes acted as emcee and introduced this year’s gala co-chairs Amy Roberts and Tanja Tatelman, followed by COO of Boston Children’s Hospital Dr. Kevin Churchwell. Guests enjoyed a sumptuous three course dinner as patient speaker Tracy Antonelli and her adorable daughters who received treatment and benefitted from the League’s non-clinical programs drove home the importance of their crucial fundraising efforts.
Rich Terrio of Auction Knights and Eliot from Jordan’s Furniture himself helped guests outbid each other during the live auction where bid spenders really opened their hearts and wallets to fund the League’s important work. This is and continues to be one of the annual fundraisers I always look forward to and should certainly be on all Bostonians gala short list.
Happy Looking Through the Glass,
