Last weekend foodies flocked to Taste Talks Brooklyn to enjoy an array of foodie-centric events over the course of three days. There were a variety of speaker panels, tasting events, awards, eatings, and parties bringing folks together over their love of food.
This year brought a number of culinary talent to the scene: Andrew Carmellini (Leuca), Dan Barber (Blue Hill), Angie Mar (Beatrice Inn), Floyd Cardoz (Paowalla), Seamus Mullen (Tertulia), Dale Talde (Atlantic Social), Michael Anthony (Gramercy Tavern), and Daniel Rose (Le Coucou), among many others.
We enjoyed the beautiful weather on Sunday when Taste Talks wrapped up the 3-day fest with the All-Star Cookout featuring delicious dish collaborations. We started off with corn and radish esquites from Alta Calidad x Bric TV’s Cooklyn, grilled blue oyster mushrooms from Norman, and the grilled corn two ways by Sunday in Brooklyn x Camperdown Elm.
Delicious dishes kept coming, included the “Mile Em” Poutine from Mile End x Emmy Squared and Okonomiyaki Shioyaki skewers, as well as the fish kofta from Samesa x Greenpoint Fish & Lobster. Things really got going with the smoked pastrami sausage hot dog from The Meat Hook x Small Black and the burro taco from Saxon + Parole x Ghost Donkey.
The Nutritious Burger with Smoke Show sauce from Win Son x Smoke Shop BBQ was a fan favorite, since the line was always long, and they eventually ran out before the end of the second session. To make up for it, we really enjoyed the double-smoked bacon bao from Nom Wah Tea Parlor x Schaller & Weber. Definitely craving more of that bacon!
We ended things on an even higher note with dessert from Van Leeuwen x Frankie Cosmos with their “Kid Cacao and the Coconuts” ice cream sundae, or their vegan “Cosmic Mousstachio” sundae.
An awesome way to spend the day outdoors! While this year had longer lines in year’s past with less options, we always love a good foodie festival and will trek for delicious bites. And we always love an enthusiastic photo bomber!
Yours,
Von
