Two Michelin-starred chefs from Italy and the best coffees in the world are coming to Chefs Club Counter from September 30 to October 3 when illy takes over the restaurant in celebration of its annual Ernesto Illy International Coffee Award.
The residency includes a coffee tasting on September 30 and four course dinners from October 1 to October 3 with two highly acclaimed, Michelin-starred Italian chefs, Antonia Klugmann and Alfio Ghezzi.
New Yorkers will be able to taste the best coffees in the world on Sunday, September 30 when illy brings the nine finalists of the Ernesto Illy International Coffee Award along with two Michelin-starred chefs to Chefs Club Counter.
Similar to a wine tasting, guests will have the opportunity to compare samples and hone their taste buds in a “blind tasting” of nine distinct coffees from Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, India, Nicaragua and Rwanda, and then cast their vote for this year’s Coffee Lovers Choice Award. The Ernesto Illy International Coffee Award recognizes coffee growers who demonstrate excellence in achieving sustainable quality.
Chef Alfio Ghezzi will be cooking signature, refined small plates and passed food at the coffee tasting on Sunday (tickets are $15) and both Klugmann (Tuesday night) and Ghezzi (Monday and Wednesday night) will serve a sit down four course meal. Dinner tickets are $75.
