Secret Summer kicked off the week of their 5th anniversary party by hosting a preview party for Media at enchanting venue, the Foundry, where the event is set to take place. The festival has become infamous for being the most photogenic event of the season and one that partygoers look forward to every year.
Besides being a party to see and be seen at, Secret Summer is also well known as the only farm-to-bar-cocktail festival and these cocktails are the best! This year Aperol has its own lifesize bar cart that is serving the drink of the season, Aperol Spritzes.
Mr. Black is creating Coffee Tonics served out of nostalgic coffee cups, giving everyone the little bit of caffeine kick they need to power through. Our favorite bevi of the night was the Tiguere del Valle from Chinola. Not only is it super instagrammable, it was frothy excellence that masked the tequila completely. These are just a few of the many drinks that will be offered!
The event features some of the best food vendors and from our perspective, helps to introduce us to some restaurants we’ve never tried before. Jing Fong served up some delicious dim sum at the preview party and Cash Only BBQ had one of the best brisket and biscuit combos we’ve had.
For dessert, fan favorites Tipsy Scoop offered up tasty sundaes and My/Mo Mochi featured some yummy new flavors like Chocolate Sundae and Vanilla Blueberry.
The event also has a focus on sustainability that they try to weave in as much as they can. This year Brooklyn Grange Farm (Brooklyn Navy Yard), Windfall Farm (Montgomery, NY), Gotham Greens (Greenpoint Brooklyn + Hollis Queens), Bowery Farming (Manhattan) Lucky Dog Farm (Hamden, NY) and Lani’s Farm (South New Jersey, Bordentown) will be providing local ingredients that will be used throughout the event. Purveyors like Aldez Tequila make their bottles from recycled Coca-Cola bottles. MF Events are hosting a sustainable raw bar. HAY! Straws, made from natural wheat stems that are 100% biodegradable, will be used in beverages to further the cause too.
Lastly, but certainly not least, people come out to see what the entertainment will be. At the preview it was Kareem Thompson, but at the actual event High & Mighty Brass Band, DJ Dastan, DJ David Hohme and Mira Fahrenheit will be making appearances.
We can’t wait to see how the festival expands to the full-fledged event on Sunday! For more information and to get your tickets for this weekend before they’re completely sold out, visit Secret Summer NYC.
