October 12th marked the Young Scholars Concert for the Lang Lang International Patrons Circle at Steinway Hall in Manhattan.
Alec Baldwin and the Board of Directors of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation hosted the event which featured talented previous students of the program, Maxim Lando and Eliot Wu.
The event began with a cocktail reception with Dom Perignon flowing to attendees in the lower part of the store. Guests were then ushered into the theater and both Lukas Barwinski Brown, the CEO of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation and Baldwin, addressed the group on why the program is so important.
Lando took the stage and performed works from Nikolai Kapustin, Liszt and Vladimir Horowitz. He spoke about his experience with Lang Lang and how the program changed his life. Then Wuu played moving pieces from Bach, Rachmaninoff and Beethoven. Because of his work with Lang Lang he has gone on to perform at venues like Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center!
It was a wonderful night of exceptional music and talent for a great cause. The next concert will take place on Thursday, December 12th.
