On Thursday, April 18 2013, New York’s longest-running junior benefit brought together young philanthropists to celebrate and raise funds for the American Museum of Natural History’s educational programs for underserved children. In honor of the Museum’s upcoming Whales: Giants of the Deep exhibit, the Under the Sea theme for the evening encouraged guests to don festive resort-wear chic ensembles, although many opted in favor of brighter black tie options.
The best and brightest of Manhattan’s young professional crowd including Lauren Remington Platt, Ivanka and Jared Kushner enjoyed an intimate dinner and dessert followed by dancing and a silent auction. DJ Jus-Ske set the theme with festive beats while guests danced and checked out the great designer items from Fendi, Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, as well as jewelry by Fred Leighton, Ippolita, and Kwiat. The event was sponsored by Roberto Cavalli which was fitting considering the animal-heavy setting.
An Avion Tequila tasting table encouraged guests to try bespoke cocktails, although the top shelf open bar enable guests to imbibe to their hearts content. Partygoers did not leave empty handed, but enjoyed Scoop bags full of discounts, Henri Bendel purse scents and candles, Malin+Goetz facial products, Godiva hot chocolate, stationary, and gift cards for Uber and Pinkclouds.com in addition to Roberto Cavalli’s Spring/Summer 2013 lookbook.
No wonder this is one of Manhattan’s longest running junior benefits- everyone had a great time and the Under the Sea setting was remarkably well-done with complimentary lighting that truly transformed the museum into a seascape.
Happy Whale Watching,
Jenicka
