On Thursday, August 9th, over 1,000 young professionals gathered at the New York Stock Exchange to show their support to Autism Speaks.
Autism is a developmental disability that impacts various social and life skills, and can vary in severity of symptoms. Autism Speaks supports autism education, research, advocacy, and is a crucial resource for families and their autistic children.
While the overwhelming majority of attendees were young professionals, there were also some older ladies and gentlemen in attendance. After an epic security line to get into the event, it was a really cool opportunity to hang out on the floor of the Exchange.
Miss New York USA 2012 Johanna Sambucini and Miss New York Teen USA 2012 Sabrina Mastrangelo made a graceful entrance onto the red carpet, and were cozying up with event co-chairs Danny Ryan, photographed below, and Jesse Morris.
Guests enjoyed light fare and cocktails, and for an extra donation, a photo opportunity with the opening and closing bell. DJ Caleb kept the atmosphere lively as patrons circulated through the various custom drink stations. The hit of the night seemed to be the martini bar, but sadly the olive juice ran out quickly, so there were no dirty martinis to be had. However, there were plenty of worthy libations to pair with the sushi, spiced shrimp, petite burgers, and bite-sized macaroni and cheese being served throughout the evening.
The fundraiser was a huge success in raising over $90,000 to benefit Autism Speaks, and is certain to be a big player on the young professional social calendar for next year.
Happy Socializing,
Jenicka
