Earlier this month, the Bar Room celebrated the 125th anniversary of the actual bar that was saved to be a part of the venue.

This piece of 32-foot African mahogany history originated in Harvey’s Chelsea from 1889 to the 1990’s and was saved until Restaurateurs Nicola Kotsoni and Steve Tzolis found a use for it in the Bar Room in 2013.

The bar originated with Anheuser-Busch, so to honor  its beginnings, Anheuser-Busch portfolio beers were shared, like the annually-released Goose Island Bourbon County, which was released on Black Friday this year. Some of our favorite offerings were the Shock Top Twisted Pretzel and the Shock Top Raspberry that the bartender mixed with the Shock Top Shockolate Wheat.

Classic cocktails were prepared by mixologist, Danny Neff, and included a Perfect Manhattan, an Old Fashioned, a Classic Sour and Bourbon Buck.

The Bar Room’s Executive Chef Sunil Sharma served up savory hors d’ouevres like Venison Wellington, Andouille en Croute, Mushroom Truffle Risotto Bites, Bacon Quiche Bites and our favorite, Duck Rillete with Cranberry Chutney, among other noshes.

To honor the throwback time period, jazz music was spun from the DJ platform. Head Manager, Harry Joannides commented on the celebration saying, “Since our opening over a year ago, we find that our regulars and everyone celebrating with us tonight recognizes the significance of allowing this bar’s legacy to live on. Tonight, we are are proud to be celebrating a wonderful 125 years for our restaurant’s namesake and look forward to many years to come.”
