We told you last month about an up-and-coming new restaurant hot spot:  Berimbau, in the bustling excitement of the trendy West Village.  Sure enough, we were right! 

In the past four weeks, Berimbau was visited by the likes of Lady Gaga, Queen Latifah, Ethan Hawke, Noel of America’s Next Top Model, various MTV’s Real World Cast Members, the Knicks Dancers, among many others!  Also, Berimbau has just been confirmed to be featured in Season 3 of The Real Housewives of NYC.  It sounds like everyone wants a taste of Brazil.

Last night on June 10th, there was a special press and VIP gathering where we tasted delectable hor d’oeuvres and drank strong caipirinhas in various flavors like mango, strawberry, and passionfruit.  Malan Breton of Project Runway, Calvin Pace of the New York Jets, and Kimberly Leemans of America’s Next Top Model were invited to join in the festivities.  I met a spunky girl from Health Magazine who raved about the food – A good sign that someone healty vouches for the restaurant, right?  Though she was a vegetarian, she was still able to find excellent vegetarian options.  Me, on the other hand, I indulged in all the delicious Brazilian meats!  

I met the general manager/designer of the restaurant, Sergio D’Larosa, and was give a “private tour” of the restaurant.  The space is small but adorably cozy:  the front of the restaurant has the most space with great lighting during the day from the street.  The back is slightly more private for a more intimate setting, and they have a small patio outside fitting two large tables.  Brazilian music permeates the whole space, which is decorated oh-so chic-ly.
