If you’re headed to Saratoga Springs or are on your way to Upstate New York, fill up on tapas at Boca Bistro.
On a recent summer roadtrip, we refueled our bellies with lunch at this Saratoga Springs spot and were enchanted by the charming restaurant. Boca Bistro embodies Spanish and Mediterranean elements with their menu of diverse tapas and small dishes.
True to Spanish traditions, we started off with a charcuterie and cheese plate, followed by traditional tapas to share. The appetizers included pan con tomate (bread topped with tomatoes), croquetas de jamon (ham croquettes), patatas bravas (fried potatoes with garlic aioli), pimientos de padron (blistered shishito peppers), and calamari fritos (fried calamari).
It was difficult not to gorge entirely only on the tapas. Boca Bistro specializes in sandwiches for lunch. For meat lovers, there are ham, chicken, and BLT options, and for meat avoiders you can opt for their fried fish sandwich or their veggie option with hummus. Their breads range from ciabatta rolls to potato and rye breads. We tried their signature Boca Burger, made with a certified Angus patty topped with a friend egg, bacon, caramelized onion, Manchego cheese, and spicy aioli slathered on to an amazing pretzel roll.
Our visit to Boca Bistro was short-lived, and we are jealous that the Saratoga Springs locals get to dine here at their leisure. The rustic atmosphere was casual but sophisticated, a place where you want share a few bottles of wine with your closest friends.
