Unless you were prompted specifically for an Argentinian steakhouse, you probably would not know Buenos Aires Restaurant existed. Hidden under the radar in the Lower East Side, this restaurant has been serving NYC since 2006, because owner Ismael Alba could not find an authentic Argentinian restaurant in the city.

However, those in the know, like the Pope (!) know to ask for it! We were lucky enough to be invited to a meat and wine lovers dinner and got to try tons of items off the menu and this is how it went down.

The ambiance at Buenos Aires Restaurant is an eclectic display of nostalgia and sports memorabilia. Seating in the front of the restaurant is close together to create an intimate environment and there is a back private dining area for groups.

The staff makes you feel like you’re sitting down for a family meal. They even all came together to sing my friend a happy birthday! Juan Pablo, one of the staff members at the restaurant, was so passionate about the meal that it made you really care about what you were indulging in.

The restaurant is known for serving the highest quality USDA prime grilled meats and dishes with an Argentinian flare. All sausage, chorizo and sauces are made in house. We tried a sampling of all of the homemade sausage, and out of the ones we tried the Longaniza was my favorite. We tried six cuts of meat, the most interesting was the meat tenderized in milk and the most flavorful was hands down the flank steak.

Buenos Aires also has over 300 bottles of wine from around the world with a focus of wines coming from Mendoza, Argentina. The ones the restaurant had us try as pairings were delicious and unique. But they do not just have wine, they also offer classic cocktails with seasonal ingredients, and you can’t forget sangria!

Buenos Aires also launched a pre fixe $35 brunch program for 2019 that has us salivating over the screen looking at the menu. We can’t wait to try it out.
