Cosmopolitan magazine is a lifestyle publication that shares wild experiences and literature to help shake up the inner ‘fear’ in prominent women looking to take control of their lives. Whether we’re on the topic of romance, fashion or professional advice, Cosmo feeds driven divas to explore their inner selves and be the best they can be at any and every level.
Geared towards influential women, Cosmo for Latinas honored ten game changers on Thursday, May 23 at their “Cosmo for Latina’s Fun and Fearless Awards Luncheon” in partnership with CoverGirl hosted at Hearst Tower.
Honorees included Shirley Diaz, founder of Dream Girls, who was presented as an honorary CoverGirl for her work in the community and with young Latinas. Michelle Rodriguez was presented as “Fun Fearless Latina of the Year”. The beautiful Adrienne Bailon was the host for the afternoon.
Other honorees included Erika Ariola, Communnity Organizer in Mesa, Arizona; La La Anthony, TV personality and wife to Carmelo Anthony; Maria Cervantes, Fundraiser for the Mind-Research Institute; Magaly Chocano, Creator of Sweb Apps; Marlen Esparaza, Bronze medal-winning Olympic boxer; Dr. Leticia Marquez-Magana, award-winning molecular geneticist and advocate for Hispanics in the sceneces; Natalie Morales, Emmy award-winning ‘Today Show’ correspondent; Loren Ridinger, SVP of Market America and Shop.com; Alexandra Wilikis Wilson, Co-founder of Gilt.com; and Al Madrigal, Senior Correspondent for ‘The Daily Show’ and ‘Fun Fearless Latino’ of the year.
All honorees shared similar traits– sickening work ethics and pride in being Latina and being ahead of the curve in their respective industry. Prior to the lunch, I had the chance to mix and mingle with some of the honorees and felt their passion and dedication to their trade from our simple conversations. They are leaders within their communities trying to make a change and own responsibility for it – fun and fearless.
CoverGirl showcased their latest innovative products for the summer as an exclusive treat for all attendees.
The afternoon was inspirational and as a fellow Latina, I have never been so proud of my fellow Latina divas – you go ladies!
