Times Square was even brighter and more dazzling than usual on September 22nd, thanks to Maharashtra Tourism and Air India’s celebration of Diwali.
Widely known as the festival of lights and the most popular Asian-Indian festival, Diwali lit up Times Square with the first-of-its-kind international initiative promoting Indian culture, heritage and diversity.
The beautiful and thrilling festival spanned from Broadway from West 45th to West 47th street and gathered Asian-Indian participants, New Yorkers and visitors alike for the all day festivities, culminating with the ‘Light Up Times Square’ concert showcasing live performances from some of India’s most beloved Bollywood stars.
The festival’s highlights included six food vendors, dishing up incredibly delectable Indian favorites, with special nod to Mumbai. Fans of Bollywood were treated to an autograph and photograph booth where some of India’s most notable celebrities were hanging out like regulars. We also really loved the Sari draping and Turban wrapping lessons, after which we participated in a photoshoot in our newly adorned style.
