On October 18th, World Yacht at Pier 81 opened the doors to the Duchess to preview the new lounge that debuted this past summer.

Attendees were treated to a spread of assorted breads, sushi, fruits, meats and cheeses while sipping on champagne to give them a sneak peek to the VIP treatment you get while aboard. A DJ spun jazz music while the boat was docked and then transitioned to Top 40 during the three hour tour.

The Duchess Lounge was renovated so the ship could be more versatile and offer a more relaxed space to counter the sit down dinner and dancing on the floor below. The lounge offers an alternative to the usual NYC night out plans with the same options for roped off tables, small plates and drink packages that you would receive at most clubs and lounges.

Attentive waiters (our favorites were Rosa and Johny!) walked around with dishes like pulled pork sliders, scallops and macaroons, all while being guests were treated to breathtaking views of the city. The deck outside goes all the way around the perimeter of the boat to give a 360 degree view of the city skyline and the Statue of Liberty.

If you’re looking for something new and exciting to do on a Friday and Saturday night and are tired of the NYC bar scene, this would be the answer to your dilemma!
