MR. GIOVANNI RANA HOSTS UNITED TASTES OF PASTA AT NYC RESTAURANT
On the evening of Wednesday, October 28, Mr. Giovanni Rana will be in NYC to celebrate National Pasta Month with the launch of a new year-long initiative: United Tastes of Pasta, a festival series that kicks off with the first-ever Piazza Pasta Party at the restaurant, Giovanni Rana Pastificio & Cucina (75 9th Ave inside Chelsea Market; 212.370.0975; www.rananyc.com)
Gatheringsome of the country’s greatest culinary minds on the topic to showcase the universal language of pasta, the ticketed, taste-around event will highlight each visiting chef’s signature take on pasta, to benefit the Food Bank For NYC.
Mr. Giovanni Rana will welcome seven legendary culinary icons from across the U.S. to pay homage to their love of pasta, including Rana’s own Executive Chef Kevin Garcia; Mark Ladner of NYC’s Del Posto;Jody Adams of Boston’s Rialto & TRADE; Matt Accarrino of San Francisco’s SPQR; Michael Scelfo of Boston’s Alden & Harlow; Jenn Louis of Portland, Oregon’s Lincoln and Sunshine Tavern; Mark Gaier and Clark Frasier of Boston’s M.C. Spiedo. Guests can mix and mingle with the fantastic lineup of chefs and taste their ultimate pasta dish made before their eyes at each station.
Over 50 years ago, Mr. Giovanni Rana, the “patriarch of pasta,” started creating his high quality, handmade fresh pasta in Verona. Today, the family owned and run company has grown to become a household name all across Italy and throughout Europe. Giovanni Rana’s beloved brand is now available in the United States retail market and at his flagship restaurant in New York City’s Chelsea Market led by Executive Chef Kevin Garcia.
Starting on October 28 and throughout the remainder of the year, Giovanni Rana will donate 100,000 meals to the Food Bank For NYC in addition to proceeds from the Piazza Pasta Party ticket sales, to help end hunger throughout the five boroughs of Manhattan. Selected signature chef dishes will remain on the Giovanni Rana Pastificio menu until New Year’s Eve, and every time a customer orders that dish, the restaurant will donate another $1 to the Food Bank For New York City.
