Newly opened Unlimited Martial Arts in Williamsburg, Brooklyn will be offering a complimentary self-defense class for women on Saturday, April 15th from 11a.m. – 1p.m.
Class will be led by Martial Arts experts Sifu (master) Phil Cruz and Anthony Fontana, the pair use their combined 40 years of experience to offer a diverse array of classes, from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to Jeet Kune Do to self-defense classes.
The event will begin with an hour-long training session, followed by an engaging conversation on the importance of these exercises. Participants are encouraged to arrive early as this event will be held on a first come, first serve basis.
What sets UMA apart from other gyms is its team of experts who are focused on inclusivity and positivity rather than ego and intimidation, who offer diverse classes like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Panantukan, Kali, Silat, Boxing, Krav Maga, Jun Fan Gung Fu, and Mixed Martial Arts.
Personal Training and a children’s “Little Dragons” program is also available. Cruz is a sixth-degree black belt in Jeet Kune Do, a fourth-degree brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and white glove (fourth-degree rank) in Savate under Professor Nicolas Saignac, the highest-ranked in the U.S. Cruz trained champion fighters with Sifu Dan Anderson and helped the USA team win gold at the World Kickboxing Association as part of the coaching staff. Fontana has a black belt in Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Martial Arts, he achieved the level of instructor in Progressive Fighting Systems, and he is the first martial arts instructor in NYC under Peter Weckauf, who founded Self Defense and Martial Arts Institute Combat Systems (SAMICS).
