The cast and crew of John Krokidas’ film Kill Your Darlings came together Sunday evening to toast to the end of the indie flick’s production.
Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Ben Foster, Elizabeth Olsen, Jack Huston, Dane DeHaan and Michael C. Hall, it’s the true story of the original beatnik trio, Allen Ginsberg (Radcliffe), Jack Kerourac (Huston) and William Burroughs (Foster), and the 1944 murder that drew the destined writers together. In addition to the riveting plotline, the movie is also generating buzz because it’s Radcliffe’s first post-Potter movie that is expected to get rave reviews.
Held at SLATE, a swanky, large-scale billiards spot in Chelsea, open bar began at 8 p.m. on the dot, with mixologists expertly pouring Svedka-sponsored cocktails as stars slowly begin to arrive. “I definitely went through my Beat phase, and there was a serendipitous element to being asked to be involved in this,” Hall said as he made his way from the red carpet to the party, bundled in a stylish all-black scarf and suit.
Friends of the cast and crew challenged each other at ping pong, while munching on the all-American hors d’oeuvres of mini sliders, fries and gooey mozzarella sticks. Radcliffe was a no show… or so we thought. Some stars, such as tween heartthrob Dane DeHaan, stayed and played, while others merely stopped by.
Wanting to beat the mass exodus for the casts’ takeaway bags filled with T-shirts, Jac Vanek bracelets, Sunny Field Entertainment chocolate bars, Vosges caramels, Company 3 headphones, Tate’s cookies, OPI nail polish, and POP phones, we left no later than 15 minutes before the end of the party, assured by the PR girls that the Harry Potter star was not going to be in attendance.Sadly, within that small window of time between our exit and the end of the night, Radcliffe allegedly showed, and apparently plays one mean game of ping pong.
