Out of what seems like an odd dream or fantasy world, the Lolli Popitt fashion show brought a fairy tale setting to their runway atop the Empire Hotel‘s roof.

Designed by Aurora Rose and Amanda Elle, their collection mimicked Halloween or Harajuku costumes, with short froofy tutu dresses, ruffles, lace, and attention to the tiniest of feminine detailing.

From Alice in Wonderland to Goldilocks and Dorothy, we met all kinds of great characters that night!  The rooftop is seemingly not big enough to host a runway show, but sure enough, they did it!  The platformed runway was slightly shorter than a typical runway, but there were still spotlights and 3 or 4 rows of reserved seating.  Since it was all in close quarters, even the standing room behind the seats still had a good view.

Behind the scenes logistics ran into some slight complications:  the models had to maneuver through the crowd that were standing in their walkway, making them late for their entrances and having to awkwardly scoot by each other.  However, it went unnoticed to the rest of the audience, and the models took it in stride and flaunted their poofy skirts when appropriate (which was all the time).

Some of the girls (and guys) had props to match their outfits:  there was one puppy that walked the runway, while another was carried in a purse; one particularly saucy model walked smoking a Marlboro cigarette, while a team of three licked lollipops in their bustiers.  There were even two go-go dancer dancing atop a platform off to the side of the runway, giving the audience something to watch even when the models were off the runway.  It was a very theatrical and original runway show, with much entertainment!
