Named the Next Iron Chef in 2010 on the Food Network, chef Marc Forgione opened his own restaurant in the heart of Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood nearly three years ago.  The venue has a loft feel to it with wooden glossed tables and dim lighting with candles.  Perfect for dinner dates or with a group.

This past Sunday, November 6th, Socially Superlative got to experience a very special treat and taste some of Chef Forgione’s brunch items off his restaurant’s menu.  Serving brunch only on Sundays from 11:30am to 4pm, a select few guests were treated to a savory and scrumptious meal served home style.

First up guests were treated to Marc’s specialty Bloody Mary’s, or as he calls it (and listed on the menu) Grandma Forgione’s Bloody Mary.  I specifically asked the Chef if his grandmother has tasted the cocktail and he simply stated, “Indeed. She’s come by plenty of times and always enjoys the Bloody Mary.”  I have to admit I haven’t had a Bloody Mary in years, however I was pleased at how the cocktail was presented and it tasted very good.  Not too spicy – just right!

As I talked with other patrons, our food arrived and everything was beautifully presented. Soft scrambled eggs with sun dried tomato with thick cut bacon.  My personal favorites were the Duck Sliders. I’m a sucker for sliders and these were absolutely delicious! Made of beer, bacon & butter braised duck, house made pickles, Charleston Slaw and on a potato roll. Definitely my favorite thing on the menu.

The Brioche French Toast was yummy, the syrup a little too sweet for my liking but non-the less it was soft, fluffy and moist. Topped with candied walnuts and maple syrup with whipped cream!  Also on the menu were home fries and buckwheat pancakes (another one of my favorites).

Marc Forgione brunch is reasonably priced with most brunch items ranging from $10-15 with sides costing around $5 each.

They also serve dinner every night and entrees range from $30-$35.  Not bad considering the neighborhood.  So if you’re in the neighborhood in the mood for a great brunch and specialty Bloody Marys, definitely make a stop at Marc Forgione!
