Monday night marked Nolcha Fashion Week’s presentation of Danilo Gabrielli, Guljan Yrys and Kabukiu, while simultaneously hosting their Apparel and Accessory Exhibition of up and coming designers at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Don Q was on hand to offer up strong expertly crafted cocktails (no diet Coke?! It’s Fashion Week!), while Kiss pampered with eyelash and nail application.

Two of the designers that stood out from the exhibition were Rainbow People and Fung Wear. Rainbow People, a Parisian brand, showcased their second line, which was made up of lush fabrics, structured silhouettes and reversible ensemble pieces for the woman that wants to get the most out of her wardrobe. Fung Wear’s line focused on botanical prints with a little bit of an edge. Both were feminine and empowering at the same time.

Unlike the organized admission procedure at the New York Fashion Week Lincoln Center tents, in the Nolcha space people scrambled for seats and some attendees were even unable to enter the main area. The lights dimmed fashionably later than anticipated and the show was on its’ way.

Danilo Gabrielli was the first to show his Summer 2012 line, which seemed like it covered a wide spectrum of trends, including a combination of white garments, metallics, sequins, colorful stripes, lace, flowy fabrics and textured pieces. The women’s silhouettes were clearly feminine resort wear, while some of the men’s pieces reflected more of a gladiator-feel.

Gulian Yrys’s line was a favorite of the night, which took a modern take on classic silhouettes and usual fashion staples, such as the classic little black dress. The pieces were structured, some with corset detailing, and the color palette was muted, with pops of bright blue and pale pink. The line was accessible with a ready to wear mentality.

Kabuklu finished off the night with a line that began with what looked like kimono-inspired sleepwear and evolved into lush evening attire. The memorable prints and satiny fabrics left a lasting impression on the crowd.

All attendees left with a goodie bag stocked with products from Kiss, Vitabath and Paul Mitchell among others.

The after party took place at the trendy Tribeca staple and celebrity fave, Dylan Prime. Keeping with the theme of the night, the doors did not open until a half hour later than anticipated. Guests sipped on obscenely strong Don Q cocktails in a space outfitted with Playstation 3 arcade games and avant garde models showcasing fashions that went hand in hand with pieces of artwork. The designers from the show were also on hand to celebrate the latest completion of their labor of love.  The DJ spun music fit for a model, which guests had no problem dancing the night away to.
