On March 30th at the Armory on Lexington, I had the pleasure of tasting this springs choices of beer with the NYC Craft Beer Festival at their Spring Seasonals tasting event.

As usual, the choices of beer were endless and there were the good old brews along with new and innovative ones. I think the beer to go for this summer would be the Dragon’s Milk from New Holland Brewing. It is a beer that has a hint of coconut. Something very new and something you did not think you would make sense, but it is actually very delicious and refreshing – perfect for a warm summer’s day. It is a beer that has been around for a while, but coconut flavored beer has yet to become a hit. Why not have a taste this summer?

We had access to the connoisseurs lounge and we were spoiled with some amazingly delicious beers such as the Labryinth Black Ale from Uinta Brewing Company, The BCS-Coffee from Goose Island and my favorite of them all – the Doom from Founders Brewing Company. I simply love a very bitter IPA and this was one of the hoppiest of the evening. But it the dark of the downstairs of the Armory in the coziness of the Connoisseurs lounge you could not go wrong with any of the beers they had to offer.

A few of the stands surprised me such as “The Cocktail Guru” at the connoisseur’s lounge, who made these very delicious beer cocktails. I must admit I have never tried a beer cocktail before and I was pleasantly surprised. So if you want to try something different or if you want to challenge whether or not you like beer, this is the way to go.

Girls making a TV-show on Craft Beers, how cool is that. People think it is a guy thing – craft beer but these two girls prove the opposite. Two Girls, One Pint is a great show that proves their slogan: Once You Go Craft, You Never Go Back!

At the connoisseur’s lounge we were also spoiled with food that was being passed around from Draught 55, Firebird and Pennsylvania 6. Draught 55 just had delicious food that was so yummy that every time they came out from the kitchen it did not take long for the trays to empty. Pennsylvania 6 also had a favorite food of mine. Their Beef Short Ribs Braised for 3-4 hours in Dark Stout that just fell apart in your mouth.
