Alexandra Wilkis, co-founder of Gilt Group was one of the speakers and her task was to combine fashion with the decease Lupus. She talked about the positive effect of feeling better, when you look better and that was her connection between Fashion and the autoimmune disease Lupus.

Lupus is a decease that is not visible but it is a decease that hits most commonly women and it is a decease that makes your everyday life a challenge because of the pain and the lack of energy. No less than 1.5 million American have Lupus and 90 percent of those are young women. Lupus has an effect on all major organs and can also affect your mouth and increase hair loss.

We were introduced to a young lady, Jamie Peretz, who was telling us her story, how she already had suffered a stroke and how she was struggling being social during college because of her fatigue. A very touching story that makes Lupus seems more real and ever.

The start of the event was the silent auction of the bags and only at this event would you be fighting over bags alongside Gloria SteinemJessye Norman and Danielle DiFernando founder of Danielle Nichole Handbags, and Mary Belle. Fighting for bags is a great theme for this event and it loosens up the mood for such a serious subject as Lupus.

Unfortunately, I did not get the bag that I had bidon, but I am glad someone won since all of the money went to a worthy cause.
