Last Thursday, June 20th, VICE and THUMP threw a huge EDM bash on Pier 84 overlooking the Hudson River.
Powered by Samsung Galaxy S4, it was a high energy, loud bass, heart pounding kind of night with world renowned DJ Zedd.
At a youthful 23 years of age, Russian-born Anton Zaslavski is already a shining star in the industry, working with Lady Gaga, Skrillex, Dr. Dre, and many more. He light up the night literally with fireworks blasting overhead during his set.
Zedd orchestrated the music from a massive LED structure designed by 1024 architecture. Which kind of reminded me of the Chase Bank logo, but it was an impressive visual effect to go along with the fist-pumping beats. Along with Zedd’s successful set, Duke Dumont and TOKiMONSTA also got the crowd moving to their performances.
The event was free and open to the general public (which Socially Superlative readers got the head’s up about). We hear that people took the day off and started lining up at 3:00pm in hopes to get through by the 7:00pm door time. By the time the event officially started at 8:00pm, the pier was already at capacity and the giant crowd spilling over the sidewalks onto the streets of the West Side Highway had to give up home. Fortunately, for the rest of us, we got to enjoy the music, see some flashy fireworks, and dance the night away.
