Already halfway through New York Fashion Week, the fashion conscious and media hungry, still have a few more days of making their appearances and trend predictions for Fall 2013.
One trend we are starting to see at New York Fashion Week has been, more commercial brands showing their collections. Brands such as J. Crew, JBrand, Joie, and G-Star, had all budgeted this year for runway shows. One of the sexiest and most memorable presentations that kicked off NYFW was from L.A. based, Wildfox Couture.
The Wildfox Fall 2013 Collection Presentation was held in the Lower East Side at Capitale. Designed by Stanford White in 1893, Capitale was the original Bowery Savings Bank and embodies all the grandeur of Romanesque revival, setting the stage perfectly for what would be a Great Gatsby inspired evening.
Famous fans of the label that attended the event included Vanessa Hudgens, Victoria Justice and Ashlee Simpson.
When it came time to debut her collection, designer Kimberley Gordon, ensured the models made quite the entrance. Stropping to strike poses around the balcony, then descending down the stairs to the ballroom floor while dancing with champagne flukes in hand, these Wildfoxes looked like they were having as much fun, as the clothes they were wearing.
The collection featured all the glitz and glam of Gatsby, including tops splashed with trademark Gatsby phrases like “It was just a dream,” and “Daisy.” The models were also wearing pieces from the new collaboration with Michelle Siwy. Cocktails and a couture ice sculpture were on display courtesy of Früzen Ice.
The lavish evening ended with a live performance from Chairlift, playing their Valentine’s Day single, “I Belong In Your Arms.”
